A regular monthly meeting of the Town of New Hope Board of Aldermen/Town Council was held on Tues., October 26, 2006 in the New Hope Town Hall. It was called to order at 7:36 p.m. by Mayor Johnny Hamm. Also present were Ald. Pat Monson, Barbara Stevenson, Bill Sommers and Roger Wilson; Atty. John Rapier, four other residents and the town secretary. Ald. Jeff Herbst was absent. Consent items: Treasurer Pat Monson's First Quarter (Oct.) 2006-2007 report was approved by general consent. Item 1. Re-appoint or appoint Planning & Zoning Commission members: Lance Caserotti was appointed to the commission upon a motion by Hamm, a second by Wilson, and a unanimous carry. Item 2. Administer Statements of Officer and Oaths of Office to commission appointees: Caserotti was administered the Statement and Oath by Atty. Rapier. Item 3. Discuss and take appropriate action on any possible violation/s of the Junked Vehicle ordinance: This project is on hold until a new telephone system can be installed. After discussion, Wilson moved to increase the telephone budget to $80 per month for two lines, thus adjusting the budget for the acquisition of a multi-purpose telephone system, out of the Contingency item. Sommers seconded the motion, and it was carried unanimously. Wilson will complete the project. Item 4. Discuss and take appropriate action relating to any proposal from the Roads & Parks Committee, including expenditures necessary for road/street repair/maintenance: Wilson reported on the committee's Oct. 24 meeting. The hole at Rockcrest and FM 1827 is now patched. Park plans were discussed. Item 5. Discuss and take appropriate action relating to any proposal from the Planning & Zoning Commission: See Item 8. Item 6. Discuss and take appropriate action to cancel the three December meetings: Wilson moved to cancel the December meetings, Hamm seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. Item 7. Discuss and consider Resolution 2006-13 Approving Town's 2006 Appraisal Roll (Sec. 26-09, Texas Property Tax Code) to Constitute the Town's 2006 Tax Roll: Hamm moved to adopt Resolution 2006-13, Monson seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously.
Item 8. Discuss proposed signage ordinance, and place it on the November town council agenda: Draft copies of the proposed signage ordinance were distributed to council members, and consideration of the ordinance was placed on the Nov. 28 town council agenda. Consent items: There were no further reports. Citizen comments: Water conservation, the burn ban and permission to burn were discussed. Future agenda items: Item 8 above. Regular monthly items. |
