Town of NEW HOPE P.O. Box 562 75070-0562 Collin County, TX A regular monthly meeting of the Town of New Hope Board of Aldermen/Town Council was held on Tues., 29 May 2007 in the New Hope Town Hall. It was called to order at 7:36 p.m. by Johnny Hamm. Also present were Ald. Pat Monson, Ald. Bill Sommers, Ald. Bob Parmelee, Mayor Pro Tem (MPT) Roger Wilson, and Atty. John Rapier. Absent was: Ald. Jeff Herbst.
Consent items: Minutes of the November 2006 and April 2007 Town Council meeting minutes were approved by general consent. The Treasurer's Report was given by Pat Monson for 29 May 2007. Emergency repairs were made to the Oak Creek bridge due to the heavy rains. The Town Hall heater is not working and will need repairs before next winter. Treasurer’s Report was approved by general consent. Atty., Mr. Rapier, commented on customary amounts of cash to be transferred into TexPool. More than 3 times monthly budget should be transferred to TexPool to receive maximum interest.

Item 2. Duke Monson, representing the Planning and Zoning (P&Z) committee, recommended Ray Edward’s land be zoned for commercial use in the General Business (GB) zone. Discussion followed concerning location of land and impact on neighboring properties.
Item 3. Duke Monson, representing P&Z, also made recommendation to allow for new homes in GB zones. Recommendation was made to the Town Council who will have a Public Hearing concerning the recommendation on 19 June 2007, 7:00, Town Hall.
Item 4. Pat Monson reported status of Junk Vehicle ordinance. Initially there were 65 reported junk vehicles. Some have already been removed or appropriately shielded. Owners have 30 days, until mid June, to comply.
Item 5. Town Council has recommended Atty., Mr. Rapier, send a letter concerning compliance with the Town’s ordinance on removing vacated mobile homes.
Item 6. Town Council has recommended a courtesy letter and followup procedures concerning lots with tall grass that have not been mowed and present a safety hazard.
Item 1. Gene Fowler reported status on Town Park Project. A bid has been received and work proposed to initiate groundwork for the new Town Park. Work includes grading, retaining wall, irrigation, landscaping including wildflowers. Concrete work includes sidewalks, picnic table flatwork, ramp and parking lot. The Town Park will need many volunteer hours to plant trees and bushes. Volunteer hours are given and matched with funding grants to complete the Town Park.
Motion was made to accept the bid for the groundwork and parking lot by Roger Wilson and a second made by Johnny Hamm. Work should begin when the rains stop.
Announce tentative meeting dates: 19 June 2007 for Roads & Parks, 21 June 2007 for P&Z, and 26 June 2007 for Town Council.
Citizen comments:
1. There were some comments about noncompliant junk cars along 1827.
2. National Night Out will be August 7, 2007. Chairman is Judy Parmelee.
3. Roger Wilson has resigned Town Council as of 29 May 2007. The Town of New Hope thanks him for his many years of dedicated service on the New Hope Town Council and wishes him well in his new home in South Dakota. Future agenda items: Regular monthly items, tabled items.
