A regular monthly meeting of the Town of New Hope Board of Aldermen/Town Council was held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in the New Hope Town Hall. It was called to order at 7:34 p.m. by Mayor Johnny Hamm. Also present were Ald. Bill Sommers, Ald. Pat Monson, Ald. Jeff Herbst, Ald. Gene Fowler, Atty. John Rapier, and Town Secretary Barbara Stevenson. Absent was Ald. Bob Parmelee. Six citizens were present.

Minutes of the November 2008 Town Council meeting minutes were approved by general consent. The Treasurer’s report was given by Secr. Barbara Stevenson for December 2008 through February 2009 and was approved by general consent.

Item 1. Public Works.

Further recommendations would be forthcoming following next Park Committee meeting. Concrete to be poured this month (March). Pavilion may be finished during March. Beth Schmidt and Pat Fowler are currently working on recommendations concerning benches for the Park.

There is no road work in progress at present.

Item 2. Elections are Saturday, May 9, 2009. Last day to file for place on the ballot is March 9, 2009. Three alderman positions are up for election, Pat Monson, Jeff Herbst, and Gene Fowler.

Item 3. Announced tentative meeting dates: Roads & Parks is April 21, 2009, P&Z meeting is April 23, 2009, and Town Council Meeting is April 28, 2009.

Citizen comments:

There was some general discussion concerning citizen comments. Mayor is permitted to direct action on comments to staff. Council Members are permitted to ask for placement on next Council Meeting Agenda in response to citizen comments.

There was some questions from citizens concerning trucks on Rockcrest digging and carrying dirt and possible damage to the road.

There was a citizen comment about posting signs about littering on Rockcrest Road.
