A regular monthly meeting of the Town of New Hope Board of Aldermen/Town Council was held on Tues., July 27th, 2008, in the New Hope Town Hall. It was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Johnny Hamm. Also present were Ald. Pat Monson, Ald. Bill Sommers, Ald. Bob Parmelee, and Ald. Gene Fowler Absent were Ald. Jeff Herbst and Atty. John Rapier, and Town Secretary Barbara Stevenson. Minutes were recorded by Judy Parmelee.

Consent items:
Minutes of the May 2008 Town Council meeting minutes were approved by general consent after correction of the bank name to American National from American Standard.
Treasurer's report copy was handed out. Questions arose about the $42,000 listed as undeclared funds. It was stated that these monies were transferred from Chase Bank to American National Bank. Bob Parmelee is now approved to sign checks. Pat Monson stated that Town Secretary, Barbara Stevenson, was now paying the Town bills.

Item 1. Public Works. Pat Fowler stated that they had a Public Works meeting in June and July with all members of the Park Committee in attendance. They discussed the best use of the funds available. Changes were made to the original plan to accomplish this. The cost of the pavilion was more than estimated which caused some other items to change. The pavilion contract for construction will be awarded soon. A new contractor has been contacted for complete park irrigation due to failure of the original contractor to respond to requested needs.

The concrete work on Oak Meadows is being completed.

There was discussion concerning a missing street sign.

Item 2. There was discussion concerning new banking procedures with American National and additional training for wire transfer banking. There was also discussion about creating a new account specifically for Town Park funds.

Item 3. The New Hope Town budget was not ready for review. Mayor Hamm said he would call a special meeting to complete the budget process. Budget to be presented in the August meeting and voted on in September. Public will be invited to attend these budget meetings.

Item 4. Announced tentative meeting dates: Roads & Parks is August 19, 2008, P&Z meeting is August 21, 2008, and Town Council Meeting is August 26, 2008.

Citizen comments:
Jack Shain said additional top soil was needed for park flower beds and discussion took place as to the options available for locating the soil. The Council told Jack to contact a local supplier and have the soil delivered. Jack also suggested that the new irrigation contractor might be able to repair the drainage problem by the parking area. He will check into this.
