M I N U T E S
A regular monthly meeting of the Town of New Hope Board of Aldermen/ Town Council was held on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, in the New Hope Town Hall. It was called to order at 7:32 p.m. by Mayor Johnny Hamm. Also present were Ald. Jeff Herbst, Ald. Bob Parmelee, Ald. Bill Sommers, Ald. Gene Fowler, Atty. John Rapier, and Secretary Barbara Stevenson. Absent was Ald. Pat Monson.
Consent items: Item 1. Ald. Jeff Herbst gave a report on road maintenance. Rick Richardson will begin tree trimming and brush cutting along roads. Several signs also need maintenance. Pat Fowler gave a report on the Public Works, The New Hope Town Park. There are several projects to complete on the Park such as the volleyball court, pergola, and water feature. Benches need to be set into concrete. Discussion followed concerning what needs to be done to finish out the Park project using remaining funds. Memorial bricks will be ordered soon. A new grant has been issued for lighting and for the basketball half court, $11,200. There was some discussion concerning the fence row of trees and plants and trimming them and whether to cut some of the trees out.
Item 2. Judy Parmelee gave a report on the Neighborhood Watch Program in New Hope. There have been several incidents of suspicious behavior and crime in our area. Proposal was made to start email listing through Yahoo web page to alert and inform citizens of any suspicious behavior in our area. Request was also made for funds to send newsletter out to New Hope residents including this information. Suggestion was made to add an information column to the Town web page for current information concerning New Hope. Motion was made by Ald. Jeff Herbst to approve expenditure of funds to produce Crime Watch Newsletter not to exceed $300. All approved. |
