A regular monthly meeting of the Town of New Hope Board of Aldermen/Town Council was held on Tues., May 27th, 2008, in the New Hope Town Hall. It was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Johnny Hamm. Also present were Ald. Pat Monson, Ald. Bill Sommers, Ald. Bob Parmelee, Ald. Gene Fowler, Ald. Jeff Herbst. Absent was Atty. John Rapier.

Consent items:
Minutes of the April 2008, Town Council meeting minutes were approved by general consent.
Treasurer's report was given by Pat Monson. Updating and conversion progress to the new bank and the new software was discussed.

Item 1. Jeff Herbst presented Road Work Report (attached). State paved two of our town intersections at their cost. Total 2008 road word proposal was $32,450.00. There was discussion concerning how asphalt prices will be going up and there will be a shortage of asphalt this coming year. Motion was made to accept the Road Work Proposal by Ald. Bob Parmelee and a second by Ald. Bill Sommers. Motion passed.

There was discussion concerning widening the roads in Oak Meadows around the trees and the right-of-way. There was discussion concerning the problems/benefits of asphalt overlay on concrete roads.

There was discussion concerning continuing plans for the Town Park including mulch needs, playground and pavilion plans, budgeted and actual costs for previous estimates and future costs. There was discussion concerning possible trail links with McKinney's proposed trails.

Item 2. There was discussion concerning new banking procedures with American Standard and training for online banking. There was also discussion about options to open an account specifically for Town Park funds.

Item 3. Announced tentative meeting dates: Roads & Parks is June 17, 2008, P&Z meeting is June 19, 2008, and Town Council Meeting is June 24, 2008.
